Ive tried both the 10.5.6 iso and the 10.5.4 dmg. Never mount bootable media unlocked in an OS X Finder. Note: That if you mount a bootable.dmg in the Finder as an unlocked image it will render the.dmg unbootable. I also posted this about 3 years back in this thread, so, somewhat buried, Ill repost it here. In fact, the LED on the drive never illuminated until after OS X started to boot from the hard disk (Regarding this, I mentioned that it showed a prohibitory symbol and printed text mentioning ata-6 when I tried I ended up testing to see if it did the same thing when I directed it to boot from ud with no USB devices connected at all, and it did the same thing.). Thats why I recommended DVDR DL media for Tiger and Leopard (if you can find it).Īll the SuperDrive machines would read the burned media fine, but the iBook would eject it almost immediately. I discovered most of the early Aluminum G4 Powerbooks cannot. You could use System Profiler to get the exact model of the drive and then look up the full specs. Ive got the fresh install copy that should just work is there a particular place I should try to put it. Snow Leopard Beta for PPC has been fiddled with a bit and got to work on a range of PPC Macs. PPC OS X fans in general will be extra busy trying to see what works and what doesnt for months, and maybe even years, to come now, very very happily so. Remember that after installing (possibly via terminal) you also need to install the 10.4.11 combo patch before you reboot. 10.4.11 is the first one to support SATA AHCI. If you boot from the 10.4.11 Server Universal installer ISO and include the normal non-Server ISO in another virtual CD drive, you can also install to SATA drives. Not really required since QEMU also emulates the ATi Rage 128 chip. So assuming that you build a QEMU PPC machine that contains a VMWareGFX card, it should work with macOS X 10.0-10.4. VMware tools don't work, but you can patch VMSvga2 by Zenith432 easily.
